The Folklore Group "Ondrášek"

The Folklore Group "Ondrášek" was founded in September 2001 in the town of Frýdek-Místek (North Moravia, The Czech Republic) by a choreographer and an art director Lenka Dujková.

The mixed-age group of children (3 to 18 years of age) learns to understand the musical and cultural traditions of their native mountainous Lachia region (the Beskydy Mountains area).

What the group aims at is preserving the authentic versions of vivid local dialects, dances and folk songs and offering them, with love and respect, to the public. The sense of beauty, humour, spontaneity of play as well as the natural interaction between the group of the little dancers and the adult musicians are the distinctive features of Ondrášek's performances.

The group is accompanied by the traditional music band (the cimbalom, violins, viola,double-bass and flutes).

Since 2001 Ondrášek has participated in numerous festivals and folklore events such as The International Folklore Festival "Strážnice" (CIOFF) and The International Children's Folklore Festival in Luhačovice.

The Folklore Group Ondrášek was awarded the prestigious prize The Laureate of The IFF "Strážnice" 2011 for their performance The Belfry.
